Do you leave sick DC's with your Aupair?

My DD who is 2 has this temperature virus thingy and is home from nursery. I have taken today off to be with her but I have a very important meeting tomorrow that I really can't rearrange especially as I have rearranged all today's meetings. I would be out for no more than 3 hours, more likely about 2.5. My aupair has been with me for 5 months, DD loves her but I feel terrible about it as really she needs her mummy when she's not well.

what does the au pair think?

I have left my child with an au pair before but she was resting (day 3 of post op care) rather than ill and it was again a short trip out for me.

We do, it's part of the reason for having an au pair.
Would not do it if the child was very sick, but in your situation it sounds fine.

Au pair is fine with it. She's not really ill just under the weather and happy watching TV. I think I will do it.

She is likely to be over the worst by tomorrow, I would hope to be able to dose her with calpol, race off to the meeting and race back (having made sure AP was ready with cold drinks and favorite dvd). I think the decision really depends on how she feels about AP, how you feel about AP's competence and how ill dd is (? very high temp and potential for febrile convulsions or, bit of a temp and needs rest)

Thanks. AP is 25 and really sensible, DD loves AP and so far she's just quiet and cuddly with a slight temp. Question might be irrelevant now as DH has come home with man flu and is planning on "working from home" tomorrow so can be there for her.

Have very sensible AP who had one of DCs of sick most of last week (and got school holiday time pay rather than term time pay as a result).
