Goodmorning girls, I'm not reallt here sneaking in on DH's laptop and dongle thingy, which is dial up in a bad reception area so soooooooooooooooo slow.

Well we are in move went smooth enough, but BT are a pain, they still have not put in the landline which was suppose to go in on the 6th as the telegrapgh pole is broke, they have missed 3 appointments so far with out telling us they re not coming, because it is not fixed. supposed to be coming tomorrow, phoned them yesterday, to be told that my line is connected!

when I said that it couldnt be as there was no physical line to my house, they said I must have a fault and are now sending a repair engineer!!!!!!

Anyway Ofsted cocked up my change of adress (anyone see Londons thread about Deisalgirl having a Inspector coming on the day she moved in!) Well same Inspector tried to come to me, saying I wasnt legal to work till she had been
!

I had already sent in risk assesmnet, and had it accepted!, Any way after phone calla, was tols that I was legal and new Cert was on its way.

Insector is a knob, she has decided that she has to come back to Deisal next week, what a surprise! (It is the Inspectot that told me two Inspections ago, that she never gives Outstanding as eveybody has something to achieve!)

Anyway, if I can wrestle the lappy from DH later will try and pop in, but not much loads during the day

Morning! Glad that move went ok Shoshe, but sorry about BT and Ofsted. We had problems with BT when we moved a few years ago. Ended up with £900 of compensation as they had to pay one months line rental for every day the phone line was not working!!

Please someone tell me how I can get dd sleeping better. I am so sick and tired of her waking up so early. Apart from sleeping tablets (if only it was that easy )I don't know what to do. I am starting to feel like I dont' like her much right now and feel like the worst mum in the world for even saying that. Writing this in tears now. I'm so useless

southernbelle77 · 13/01/2009 07:07

Ok I take it all back! Just been reading the Sleep thread and dd isn't so bad after all!! Got a few tips too so going to start tonight!!

mumsanutter · 13/01/2009 07:20

Morning ladies,

SB, I know exactly how you feel. Ds4 decided that 5am was a good time to get up today, and this was after having a yoyo night, so sorry can't give any advise about getting little ones to sleep as mine don't either!!

Shoshe, glad that the move went ok, but sorry about ofsted and bt. I think that an engineer can run the line to your house, but if the pole is broken then this probably isn't possible! (sorry can't check with dh - this used to be his job, as he is in NY so 5 hours behind - I'll try to remember to ask him later!0

KatyMac · 13/01/2009 07:43

Morning all

I definitely don't have a sleep problem (or do I?) I slept from 5:45 last night until 6:30 this morning - with 2 loo breaks .....I think I'm poorly

I need to make it through until 3pm today ten I can flake out again

Glad it was reasonably calm Shoshe - typical of OFSTED & BT imo

mumlove · 13/01/2009 08:12

Morning everyone.

Off to music with 1 mindee as the other has swapped to friday this week. So working the whole week but only 1 under 5 mindee each day .

Remind me what age children are supposed to stay in bed!! I am having problems in the evening when I want a bit of me time.

Shoshe - glad the move went well, hopefully BT will sort you out soon.

crace · 13/01/2009 08:28

No hard and fast rule mumlove - how many are you battling to keep in bed? My two are a nightmare, the three year old gets put back over and over and over until she gets the message. Putting her in bed with a load of books to look through with a nightlight seems to help. I am getting better at being more firm and it's helping. The other is a 8 month old so he gets a little leeway. Make that a lot

crace · 13/01/2009 08:30

SB - we have an early waker - she gets up between 2-6 am and then stays awake for a couple of hours. It's a nightmare - but we tell her to stay in bed. I am not above bribery or threats at this point!

crace · 13/01/2009 08:32

Shoshe at Ofsted and BT what a nightmare!

Katy, hope you are feeling better soon, lots of rest for you!

I am seeing a trend that C/Ms have bad sleepers! Soft touch are we girls?

Can anyone answer this one for me? My after schoolie doesn't like using the toilet here. He will literally hold it, and his privates!, so he is desperate but he's here 4+ hours in the afternoon so it's a long ole time. How do I help him? This is only his second week.. I am hoping in time he will get more comfortable with us? He's 5 btw

SammyK · 13/01/2009 10:34

Hi everyone I'm back

DP and I have made up, but not before I had handed out m=notice letters to all my clients! I decided to embrace the change, and only asked one family out of 3 to stay, who was made up to. This means from feb I will only be minding 2-6pm, more time for ds with me .

Hope everyone is well, shoshe what a nightmare hope you get sorted soon.

my DS does not sleep either, has slept through 4(?) times in over 4 years! {tired}

crace · 13/01/2009 11:50

Sammy that's great news - glad it's resolved itself, I had been thinking about you! Sounds like you have a plan, and can compromise with dp. I really hope you can move forward now, and I am so pleased for you

mumlove · 13/01/2009 11:52

crace - 1, 8yr old girl!!

mumlove · 13/01/2009 12:00

crace - I make them all go back into school and use the toilet.

Sammy - So glad you are back . Please rest and enjoy the time with your son.
I have been doing a 3 day week and have enjoyed the time to do things but need more money coming in and willing to do the extra days if needed (have spaces on the 3 days) but no-one is phoning.

mogs0 · 13/01/2009 12:08

Morning everyone. I'm just doing my tax return for 07/08. I've spent an hour organising my receipts into monthly piles and have searched high and low for my diary insert for 07. Everything is laid out neatly for me to calculate now so thought I'd have a 5 min break on here before I spend the rest of my day counting!!!

Shoshe - BT are a nightmare. I hope Ofsted visit is ok.

SB - How long was your BT line disrupted for you to get £900?!! How the sleep tips work with your dd. Ds is an early riser but now he's 6yrs I can persuade him to stay in bed and listen to a cd or 5 before coming to wake me up!!

KM - Wow, what a long sleep! Do you feel refreshed this morning?

Mumlove - can you swap your days/mindees to condense them to fewer days?

Crace - Could you try a ping-pong ball in the loo for him to aim at? I'm sure he'll relax when he's been coming a bit longer. What have his parents said about it?

vInTaGeVioLeT · 13/01/2009 14:08

well i have finally filed my tax return - talk about stressed out! but it is done and i have paid such a relief - i will do it sooner next time. My trouble is i get so with forms i always leave things till the last minute - which is very silly of me.

ok my pc is being silly now

vInTaGeVioLeT · 13/01/2009 14:10

glad to see you back here SammyK i was worried. Glad you've sorted things out and the change of hours sounds like a good plan.

coolj · 13/01/2009 14:46

Hello everyone. Shoshe good to hear that you just above survived the move.
Southern - what is your secret re BT
Sammy - such a relief that you sorted things out.
Katie - hope you are ok
Crace - have you tried the 'cheerio down the toilet' trick. Something to aim at.
[waves to everyone else]

We were at soft play this morning then I dropped off my DS at nursery. He was so tired by that stage, so was my mindee, he is asleep.

crace · 13/01/2009 19:24

Well, the toilet thing seemed to have resolved itself, typically me worrying for nothing. Makes me caring? No, neurotic.

I could use an old pat on the back - today, this afternoon even, was so difficult. It was MY children, not the after schoolie. I have three and all of them were difficult - I am starting to doubt I can even do this. My dc are 12, 3 and almost 8 months. I just feel so rubbish that I can't get it together

crace · 13/01/2009 19:25

Violet, my aren't done yet - need to get my online thing sorted first. On the list for tomorrow!

Hope you had a great day coolj..

coolj · 13/01/2009 21:28

Aww Crace [sends big hugs]. Its always the way. My mindees are little angels but my own DC can be little shits tinkers at times.

Even on my Ofsted inspection, it was my DC3 who seemed uncontrollable. I was mortified as he really played up .

Its really not easy at times being a parent, let alone a childminder. I just know that in years to come when they have all grown up and left the nest, we will wish we had the time all over again. So just take each day as it comes, keep your chin up and enjoy the short time that we have with our children. Before long, we will be having a blue rinse, doing our knitting in our rocking chair and thinking about the good ole days. .

vInTaGeVioLeT · 13/01/2009 23:37

yep - my ds was the wild one when i was minding more, always very embarrasing at groups! BUT he misses having mindees here
i think c/m'ing is hard on your own kids at times but at least we can stay home with them.
