Help needed with Childcare Options Sept 09

Hi there

Can anyone help me with Childcare issues? I have a daughter who will be 2 and a baby who will be 7 months on my return to work in Sept 09.
I wondered if it would be better to have a childminder for the 2 rather than sending them both to nursery. And wondered how much to be expected to pay for a Childminder, as my current nursery will charge at least £1500 for the 2 to attend.
I will need someone for 3 days a week Mon-Wed though I can be a bit flexible.
Please contact me if interested.

Haley

ring your local child care plus to ask for names number and prices, im in ne england and for part time i charge £4 per hour per child, so times that by whatever hours you need (before 8.30am and after 5.30 pm price changes mind) and you can roughly work out what you will pay?..everyones different though, but i would DEFINATLY chose a cm over nursery even mroe so at that age.HTH

Would help if you let us know your location. Also what hours you need... eg 8am-6pm Mon-Wed. Then we may be able to pair you up with a Mumsnet Childminder or other childcare provider.

Do you want to also consider in-home childcare, such as a nanny? Very roughly, a nanny could cost £9-£11 per hour... but that is for care of both children.

I suspect Nursery, Childminder, Nanny are all going to be similar costing, given you have two children under 3 years old. There are various pros/cons to each type of childcare.

Have you considered a nanny?

Bellaboo2007 · 05/01/2009 14:56

I'd need someone from about 08:00 to 18:00 roughly Mon to Wed, I would consider a nanny but don't really have the room for a live in one.

See my post, maybe it could work out for both of us? (depending on where you are and what your requirements are etc.) - I am looking for a live-out position and your timing as well as the age of the children sounds perfect. However I am not in the UK yet and probably will arrive in Sepember - but I will certainly come to visit a couple of times before that, so could meet you.

I've just had a peek at your post and sounds great, although really we need someone who is registered as we recieve help to pay for childcare, are you willing to do this?

Ofsted Guide to Registration: Home Childcarer
evuscha - you need to be aged 18+, do a training course recognised by Ofsted, do a 12-hour first aid course and take out nanny insurance. You will need to do these all in the UK (I think, not sure what courses they recognise from other countries). MNT can provide some courses, such as Unit 1 ICP - course held in London:Kensignton. MNT also do First Aid training at Reading, Berkshire. Another provider of First Aid training is St John Ambulance (Course: Early Years First Aid Venue's within 6 miles of Twickenham: Ashford, Chertsey, Weybridge)
