What do you do with your mindees that you have all day in this weather?

Just out of interest, what have you been doing during the day? During the holidays when a lot of stuff is closed and you have older mindees as well?

as a nanny i go out for a walk every day regardless of the weather...
thats what cosy toes / hats / scarves / gloves / coats / wellies / muddy puddles etc are for

we would normally go to the park or beach or farm or something every afternoon to get us out of the house!

weather has to be gorrific to make me stay in all day!

We do things from the wii through to something with crafts if really bad weather, although I do wrap up the kids and they go out in the garden in all weathers if they want to.

We also do trips out still to the local farm or indoor places that lets the kids run off steam.

I find that the older mindees just want to veg rather than do planned things usually, although the smaller ones like it.

What age would you say the Wii is suitable for?

My lot start about 3 on some of the games as they do the olympics etc. It is only on for a short time and the kids take turns, so no one stays on it. They all jump around and at least they are better than sitting staring at the telly or something as the older ones usually do not want to do much else.

Do they understand how to do it? I am just wondering if my almost 5 year old would get it? I have never played olypics but have done the wii sports etc and it isn't that easy, stuff like the bowling where you have to press the buttons at the same time as move your arm etc. Do kids get this?

my charge is 3.4 and can do golf on the wii sports and thats it

his 5 year old brother can do all the wii sports and is really very good at tennis!

I would cook/bake, arts and crafts, board games, read stories. I would also play hide and seek, what Simon says and if you have a safe place to do so I would also play blind mans buff.

On the matter of the Wii I would say yes to the more active games but still limit the amount of time spent on it. A good nanny should be able to provide a variety of activities for a day inside.
My 3 year old nephew is OK at some of the games but would still rather run around and play free style rather than play a game, a 5 year old has a longer concentration span so are usually better skill wise at these games and generally enjoy the Wii.
