What you would do about your job if you won the lottery? (not that I have!!!)

A while ago I worked in a warehouse - easy, just wouldn't have gone back.

But as a chilminder or as a nanny I couldn't just let the parents down. My contract has 4 weeks, but would I continue longer until they had found alternative childcare? Also I believe in continuity of care and am planning on being in my job until youngest starts school - another 2 years. Would feel awful letting the family down and them having to look for another nanny.

I'm sure it won't happen but I do wonder about it when I have my little lottery daydreams

Hmmmm, would ring them from the cruise liner, champagne in hand.............

underpaidandoverworked · 20/12/2008 11:44

Then would ring DH and tell him his tea's in the cat!!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/12/2008 13:56

i would prob still work as i only work 3 days, and would prob be bored doing nothing

aGalChangedHerName · 20/12/2008 14:01

Christ no way!!

I would give them the required notice period (but encourage them to find care quickly) and fly somewhere lovely with my DH and the dc's!!

I only work 3 days a week as well. Though I do love my job I hate getting up at 6am on work days and getting home at 6.30pm and having to do dinner.

If you stay in your job you won't be able to take extended holidays - at the moment I get 5 weeks and only 2 of those are my choice and if I had the money there lots of places I want to visit.

And if you had a few million, what about wages? Would you feel guilty taking them from people that may be struggling with their own finances? Or would you work for no money - you may feel different about a job if you weren't being paid to do it. What about all the Nannies out there looking for jobs - would you feel guilty that they could be earning a living in your job?

You can tell I daydream about winning the lottery can't you?????

Oooh what a nice day dream you have just given me , as fond as I am of my mindees, I would work my notice period - 4 weeks maximum, and then be off!

I'd open that sodding nursery, take my staff on again & reduce the cost of childcare..........gosh I am sad aren't I?

I'd still manage it all - cos I love it

mumlove · 20/12/2008 20:04

I would also love to open a nursery and reduce the cost of good childcare and have the staff to run it so if I wanted to I could go in and cuddle all those lovely babies.

WhileShosheWatchedHerFlocks · 20/12/2008 20:20

mmmmmm DH is in the Army, so it would take a while for him to be able to get out, so sod him.

4 weeks from winning I would be on a beach somewhere

WhileShosheWatchedHerFlocks · 20/12/2008 20:22

Then I would come back and open a nursery for young single mums that want to continue their education, at a very reduced rat.

I was lucky Mom had DS when I went back to college, not all are that lucky.
