I've posted this in chat but also wanted to ask you lot if I am breaking the law by sending my ds to an unlicensed CM. Obviously, I know that she is.

As a previously registered childminder now minding before and after school unregistered I can be sure it is not ilegal.I have an up to date police check adequate up to date insurance with morton and michel and a lot less stress
I can no longer mind a child under 8 for more than 2 hours a day to do that you have to be registered .Im lucky enough to have older children to mind .Over 8s can be minded for more than 2 hours and some under 8s only need 2 hours!!!!

TBH as a parent who works full time with the full on guilt this brings, I would never leave my child in unregistered childcare....a police check is one side of it! But its about the whole environment, even if child is 10yrs old....what if...would be on my mind...yes the TA's have to be police checked but how through are they and they aren't inspected at home? My mum was a CM for years as soon as I hit 16 I had to have police checks, if child carer has children 16 or over how do you know they are being checked? No ofsted reports etc....??? How do you know they aren't being abused at the childcarers home but to afraid to say something? Why would this person not be registered? My question would be what are they trying to hide? Or why are they avoiding paying taxes? Working you pay them why shouldn't your child carer? Also you won't be able to get childcare vouchers (so you pay less tax for your childcare) or family tax credits... the difference you pay and using someone who is registered who has insurance (god forbid it is required) ! I would have to question why you would put DC in that vunerable position? and why is the child carer reluctant to register? They have benefits as well
