What have you included on there? And have you found it useful?

Here's mine but it needs updating!

TheOtherMaryPoppinsJingles · 05/12/2008 17:33

It's useful if you seem to get lots of email enquiries as you can direct people there first to get a taste of you and your service and decide if they wish to progress that enquiry further, before having to waste their time and of course yours in meeting then finding these things out.

Don't go to the bother of paying someone to make you one though, you can get great looking websites for free and need no knowledge. Just check your grammar and spelling!!

chloemegjess · 05/12/2008 18:05

Somebody has offered to do me one for free, will probably send her a little something for her time.

Having a bit of a problem with policies though. I was hoping to get them all on there so parents can see them before they come round but not sure if I can do them all as there are loads all in word docs?

Why not keep them as word docs? Alternatively you, or the person doing the site for you may be able to convert them to PDF. A lot of systems now can view Word and PDF documents - even my Nokia phone can view them!

chloemegjess · 05/12/2008 18:41

Well the girl doing it said that she doesn't think she can do it as word docs as it is not online? I might try and speak to her. To be honest, having the policies online would be a major bonus for me.

if you email them to me I'll convert them to PDFs for you she should be able to host & link to PDFs. The problem with word documents is that not everyone has word so they may not be able to view them - but PDFs are read in a free easily accessible programme.

If you want to my email is [email protected]

looneytune · 05/12/2008 18:58

When I did my policies on my site, I just copied and pasted the contents from my individual Word documents and put them in seperate pages. However, I've now totally changed them all and I have it as a set handout and will probably put as a PDF or maybe not even put them on there and say they can email me for a copy - not sure yet.

chloemegjess · 05/12/2008 22:51

Thanks Looney, I will speak to her about it.

I like the idea of not having to keep repeating myself and my adeverts etc can litterally be a sentance or 2 long and just say everything is on the website.

It sounds good to have all policies etc there so parents can view it all before they even come round.

If they see it online, do they need to have a paper copy as well or not?

"Look at this page" - my website for childminding.

Yes, it is very useful - I was emailing loads of info all the time - and my website says so much!

SammyK · 06/12/2008 08:42

here is mine, I did it myself on freewebs.

It's interesting about policies, now I have updated mine there is loads to put on, and I am also considering saying I am happy to email families the booklet.

badgerhead · 06/12/2008 08:59

I don't have my policies on my website per se, but do a summary of main points instead. My handbook is very long & to put that all on the website would make it too much to read for a lot of people online. I don't have any vacancies at the moment so don't get so many enquiries, but when I have had vacancies I find the website a good starting point for prospective parents & quite often they will arrange to come & see me having seen my website. Here it is.

leonifay · 06/12/2008 12:23

heres mine i dont have my policies on there, but i think i've covered all the main points... i hope!

chloemegjess · 06/12/2008 13:00
