Childcare Vouchers-how does nanny get qualification needed?

My workplace has a scheme starting in April 2005 (new government rules) whereby I can get £50 a month towards childcare free of tax and PAYE-it says that a nanny would need a CRB check and a paediatric first aid cert-which I would like anyway myself. But where does she go to get this: "They will also have to show an understanding of working with children ? at the very least this would mean attending an induction course on caring for children in a home environment. " Has anyone gone down this road already?

lol at the idea of managing a team of childcarers and cleaners in absentia-do you think I should get uniforms for them all? i really am insane.

Had a look on Gumtree. There didn't seem to be all that much of interest, actually. Yes, it is a bit early. But, I have nothing to lose by testing the market. I have gotten several responses from nannyjob.co.uk. Although I haven't yet told them what I'm offering for pay. There's an Itallian one who seems good, and not asking for a lot of money. There's also a Canadian girl I've been talking to. I normally steer clear of Canadians just because they have a reputation for not liking Americans, but I've been thinking that Canadian culture is quite possibly a good cross between American and British cultures, so it might be an easy transition for her. She's working in Holland now and available mid to late August.

I'm finding that greataupair has a lot more to offer in terms of au pair / willing to do housework types. but, nannyjob.co.uk seems to attract more people who actually want to be nannies.

Oh, I did have one British nanny/maternity nurse reply. I wrote her off straight away figuring she was out of my proce range. Then, she wrote me with some questions, one of which was wanting to know if her partner could come live with her. What?!?! You want me to put your partner up. This is why nanny has a single bed in her room. Yuck! Am I stuffy old maid or what?

Oh, yes to the uniforms. Maybe you could get a nice Itallian young mand and make his short and tight.

Ahh... yes my double standard.

I get numerous enquiries from couples,in any case we just don't have enough room, or for a mum with another kid. They seem to expect the same pay too.

I don't mind the mum with child so much but like you we don't have the room. And, DH doesn't want to live with a child that doesn't belong to him. So I have to respect that. But, I am morally opposed to my nanny shacking up under my roof where she will set this example for my kids.
