All this time I was under the impression (from Inspector who came to see me for Pre-reg visit) that I'd be able to mind 3 under fives & 2 under eights (which seems to be the norm for most CM with 5 quota) but got my certificate today & it says only 2 in Early Years Age Group, DS falls in this category so that only leaves me 1 other child to mind in the under 5 age group . All enquiries I've had have been for little ones. Is there any way round this?? There was a similar post recently but can't find it (have spent last hour looking for it)

your DC isn't included in the numbers on your reg form I think?

childminder90210 · 05/12/2008 09:44

yeah thats right your own children arent included in numbers on reg cert so you can have 2 more under 5 s making, including your own dc 3 under 5s x

Oh please let you be right wickedwitchofthesoutheast!!!

Anyone else's thoughts?

Ok so no point in phoning OFSTED?? Can I trust you guys? So would that mean I could actually mind 6 kids in total (if I really wanted to)? Did it used to be that your own dc were included in the total quota? Has it now changed? Sorry, really want to be sure before I start celebrating

Why would your own child/ren not be included in the numbers? Surely they'd need to be included as you are caring for them as well?

kkey21 · 05/12/2008 10:05

I had this too.
Your own child is taken into consideration so if your certificate states two under 5, then that means 2 others, aswell as your child.

Good Luck!

I have recently had my certificate through and mine said 2 under fives. When I phoned to query they said I can have 2 + my ds as he is 2 years old. Certificate states the extra children you can have, not including your own.

Give Ofsted a quick call to put your mind at ease.

In Scotland the numbers on certificate INCLUDE your own children too

Congrats on being official have you any mindees lined up ready to go?

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/12/2008 20:20

certifcate is for extra children (not yours)

so yes 2 under 5 would mean 2 and yours

does seem confusing imo

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/12/2008 20:21

forgot to say well done

Tas1 · 05/12/2008 20:32

The numbers on my certificate confused me too. I worked for over two years thinking I could only have 2 mindees plus my DD. It was only when I applied for an extention for twins that they told me I could have 3 + DD. So for 2 years I was 1 mindees fees down. [fangry}
