Hi everyone, I'm only planning on looking after school aged children - will Ofsted still check me on the EYFS at my next inspection? regards

Hi, you will be checked on the EYFS on school aged children until the August AFTER their 5th birthday. great if their birthday is June...... not so great if it's september! lol

If you are minding children between 5 and 8 you will need to register on the compulsory part of the Childcare Register, when you will need to comply with the same Welfare Requirements, but need written policies and procedures - full details are on the Ofsted Website. For over 8's you can register on the voluntary part of the Childcare Register. Even if you are caring for 4 yearolds who are in full time school, you still have to comply with all the EYFS requirements.

Also check that your registration certificate shows which registers you are on. Any new registration certificates do show this. If yours doesn't you need to check with OfSTED whether you need to display anything to show which registers you are on next to your registration certificate. Just a thought.

Feedback from friends who have been inspected under EYFS says that Inspectors are checking which registers childminders are on, and that they know, understand and are complying with the different requirements.

A friend of mine who is a childminder has just been marked down because she knew she had to be on 3 registers but didn't know why. Also she was lucky cause when the inspector asked to see her certificate she had recently had a variation and her certificate showed she was on all 3 registers.

Compulsory
voluntary
compulsory and voluntary

I do have a new certificate

but earlier in the year I was sent a list of which part I was on and the reasons why, so if got old style cert, this WOULD be enough for the inspector
