Quick question: NCMA or Morton Michel?

Did you choose Morton Michel or NCMA for your insurance, contracts and records etc and why? I'm a new CM and don't know which to choose. Any advice or experiences please?

MM - you can use your own contracts with them - which I find much easier and less expensive.

thanks lucy

Hi
I use NCMA for my insurnace and all paperwork - yep you can do it cheaper by making contracts yourself, but find the ease and peace of mind of being an ncma member worth while.
Good luck with your childminding!

NCMA - and agree with what Chappas said.

minesamonkey · 24/11/2008 13:37

thanks chappas and abbafan (good raste, love abba). I'd rather buy contracts as I'm sure I'd miss something important out. A CM I know has just changed to MM, she had a problem and said NCMA weren't very helpful. Do you think this is just a 1 off? Don't know her well so not sure of the details.

I think NCMA can only help with a contract dispute, if you have used one of theirs (it also has to be an original not a photo-copy).

That's what I've read too and meant good taste, not raste ICP training used a lot of NCMA stuff as examples, maybe that says something

Not to throw a spanner in the works, but my council in not so many words said MM were better. (Can't remember why though)

Icp in my town advertise NCMA Too, well in regards to the paperwork etc they show.

Reason: Because the course leader works for NCMA, and i know this is the same in our neighbouring borough.

As for being a member of NCMA

They are good with support and advice.
They make it easy to do what you if you buy all there paperwork stuff.
I wouldn;t change from NCMA as i feel they are the longest in the buisness and the best, a bit like comparing Tesco to Lidl me thinks..

P.S Not to say that Lidl cannot satisfy your needs, just depends on your taste

I used MM when I minded

minesamonkey · 24/11/2008 21:16

Well I decided to go with NCMA because they seemed to do records for everything and had looked at them on ICP training. Good job I did as there was 10% off all contracts and records today, nice surprise Will have a rethink next year when I have a bit more experience and know what I need/can make for myself. Thanks for all your help

I just had a look at MM's website and they started insuring childcarers in 1964 didn't realise they went back so far! Does anyone know when the NCma started?
