I've seen plenty of posts re: CM and OFSTED, but, are there any nannies out there who have had an inspection and what do they expect to find, what do they look for?
Do they expect the same drinks rule as CMs for example?

Personally the little one I have always has a drink close to hand and as there is only the one, I have no probs with children gettng cups mixed up

i have never been inspected and didnt realise i could be

we certainly dont have to have all the plans / procedures and observations etc that childminders do (thank god)

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/11/2008 20:32

tech though it shouldnt be the nanny who gets insepcted but the employer

it is their house - we can tell them to we are blue in the face to put up a stair gate - doesnt mean they will

think my friend has been inspected - will ask her what happened

magicofchristmas · 23/11/2008 22:16

Pls do and let us all know what happened. Thanks a lot.

Yes I do wonder about the safety issues too, thankfully my current employers listen and take on board all the potential hazards and deal with them. Dont know what the inspectors would have thought about last lot tho....

Why would a nanny (or employer ) need to be inspected? I think the inspection is good for someone who offers his/her services to the public. But, I have no need to have my nanny inspected by someone else, and I'm certainly not inclined to pay for it.

Because the Government wants to CONTROL how we all live our lives - they ARE BIG BROTHER!

nannyL · 24/11/2008 10:33

i completely agree with you athenanoctura

unless they want to inspect all mums / families as well

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/11/2008 10:36

guess they want to check that the children are safe/well looked after

as i said you can tell/ask/ BEG your mb to put up a stair gate, but doesnt mean they will (ex mb took it down, and it drove me insane)

AtheneNoctua · 24/11/2008 13:25

"guess they want to check that the children are safe/well looked after"

That's my job. The government is not better qualified than I am to make such decisions.

I have watch over the last year or two the overwhelming dissatisfaction of childminder towards the government trying to nanny them. And they steer far clear of my nanny if they know what's good for them.

AtheneNoctua · 24/11/2008 13:29

Actually I wonder if the government meddling in licensing and regulating nannies would lead to more people hiring them illegally. I could hire a "housekeeper" or a "children's chauffer" and not have to be regulated.

Maybe the government shoul dlicense us to have sex, you know, so they can make sure we are procreating with most appropriate partners.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/11/2008 17:51

i completley agree with you athene - have to say i am relieved that i am not ofsted registered when i read the hassle cm's on here have with them
