It's been about a year since she left us and on Saturday, DD1, for some reason suddenly said she never wanted to see her again and got very upset.
Apart from giving them cold food (stew not salad), she also:

pushed the girls away (physically) when they came near her

told them whenever anyone rang the doorbell that someone had come to steal them away and they would never see their mummy and daddy again

disappeared up to her room to have a nap and left them downstairs to watch television on their own for a couple of hours (when they were 2 and 4)

I dread to think what else. At least their doorbell phobia is now explained

Oh Tanzie - how awful.
And you tried so hard to do the right thing by her. is it really a year ago??
Is she ever in contact? Was she through an agency?

tanzie, that's so sad. I hope that nanny is not frigthening someone else's little chidren.

It's interesting what happens when children get old enough to articulate their feelings and refer to things that happened when they were younger. When my oldest son was 3years old, he was looked after by a childminder who picked him up from nursery. I knew he wasn't as too happy with her - and as he'd already happily settled with other childminders, I was surprised. But when questioned he didn't say much about it. A year or so later, he told me that he had been unhappy with her, she never talked to him, the house was full of children and he felt very lonely there.

OMG Tanzie - we had this with a previous childminder. She pretended to be oh so nice but wasn't. She walked out just before I got the chance to sack her. She had a temper and when my DS2 was 3 she lost her rag with him one morning and grabbed him by the ear and dug her keys into his poor ear - have the photographs. Every time I quizzed her about it she said she didn't know what happened. She left about a week later.

I am sorry to hear about your experience with your childcare mishmash, ( this is not intended to be controversial) but a lot of childminders on here would be upset to see you use the word 'childminder' incorrectly.

If the person was working in your home, then she was not a childminder. You also cannot sack a childminder as she is not your employee. Childminders are self employed.

Tanzie, I hope your little ones get over their experience, it is awful how some selfish people can affect a young child's life so much. I hope that you are happy with your childcare now.
