I have purchased an amazing EYFS file and wanted to share it with you...

I have bought an EYFS document file on the recommendation of a fellow childminder who gained an 'outstanding' in her inspection under the new EYFS.

Basically the file contains EVERYTHING you need for welfare requirements and Pracice evidence and therefore you inspection.

It is laid out as follows with templates and examples for you to adapt and use for your own setting:

Safeguarding & Promoting Children's Welfare
Safeguarding
Information and Complaints
Premises and Security
Outings
Equality of Oppotunities
Medicines
Illness and Injuries
Food and Drink
Smoking
Behaviour Management

Suitable People
Safe Recruitment
Changes to circumstances
Alcohol/Other Substances
Qualifiations, Training, Skills and Knowledge
Staff Arrangements, Ratios and Supervision

Suitable Premises, Environment and Equipment
Risk assessment
Premises
Space

Organisation
Systems
Observation and Assessment
Plans for Learning and Development

Documentation
Data Collection
Provider's Records

The best thing of all is that the Lady who has written and produced it (retired from management in NCMA) will give you her phone number on purchase of the file in order that you can have ongoing help and support on the initial use, updating it and any other on going support you need.

When I first leafed through it I thought it was an excellent way of keeping all you EYFS documentation together but i didn't actually realise it's worth until I had my Ofsted inspection 6 months early!!

For anyone like me who is completely clueless a little overwhelmed as to exactly what Ofsted are asking us all to to in relation to the EYFS, this file has been worth it's weight in gold.

The inspector was very impressed with it and liked the fact that all the documentstion was in one place - something that hadn't been up to standard on my last inspection and I gained 'outstanding' in several areas.

The file is called EYFS Welfare Requirements Practice Evidence and is £27.50 plus p&p from EYFS in Practise Limited

That sounds great minding mum, I'm sure even just having those headings are helpful to people awaiting their inspection.

Thanks for sharing the tip

Is this it? EYFS in Practise Limited

Thanks for this.

I'm happy with my policies and procedures (thanks a lot to Shoshe who helped me update them) but the thing I'm struggling with is recording the obs and linking them to the framework - would this pack help with that? I'm just trying to decide whether it's worth the money iyswim

MindingMum · 16/11/2008 11:58

Thanks juuule didn't realise it was as easy as that lolx

No looneytune it deffo isn't but I am now on my own with my DC so have no other choice - it's out bread and butter for the next few years

I enjoy the job itself but could do without the extras Ofsted are asking.

Not sure if the pack would help with that but our Network co-ordinater has starting running Childminder surgeries for exactly that. We just asked her and she arranged it for us. I am sure yours would do the same.

Mindingmum, I think too that the headings are very helpful.

I bought something similar off ebay for roughly £7.75 and although I found the information on the disk very helpful, it was a little higgeldypiggeldy in that it repeated itslef so got a bit confusing. It did include how to complete the SEF but of course you would adapt it to your own setting. I haven't updated my paperwork yet and haven't used this disk.

Like you Looney, I would have liked to have had help/training with relating my OBS to areas of learning and although I did attend shambles of a course an EYFS course (I honestly do not know why it is called a course, it was not), the trainers repeated exactly what was in the folder. They only gave examples of obs and planning relating to AOL for age 3+ - great I thought, that's not too difficult, know that generally but having to plan for 3 months - say 20 months I find really difficult on paper and evaluating.

Looney, I am pleased with my obs and how I have related it to the AOL, my mindees range from 12 - 20 months at the moment, I would be happy to send you examples of what I have done if you think it would help, I will of course delete mindees names, I have struggled and felt so stressed by all this and wish somebody had helped me. Not sure if I saved any on my system though so will have a look at some point as I am snowed under with all sorts of paperwork. My Network co-Ordinator had a look at them recently and said that they were comprehensive and very good so at least I know I am on the right track. As you have prob seen from my other posts, I am sadly resigning as soon as I find alternative employment. Looney, still using other chat name for obvious reasons but I emailed you a couple of weeks ago after you had sent me something on email

looneytune · 16/11/2008 14:18

Cheers Mindingmum, think I'll save my money as pretty skint right now but headings will probably help. I know what you mean, I enjoy the job itself too but miss my family (as constantly doing paperwork at weekends etc) and feel like I'd give up if I had any other option!!

Ironlady - oh, it's YOU!!! Sorry you are probably giving up but can't say I blame you! Will email you as would LOVE to see what you have in case it helps. I also went on shitty course a training course that didn't help with how to write the observations!!!
