sent lo home today with high temp, had text of mum to say not gone down gone to docs now got antibiotics and calpol/neurofen but they don't know what it is.

can i take him tom or am i right in thinking antibiotics should be in his system for 24 or even 48 hours beofre he comes back in case he has allergic reaction to them?

I'd take them if they didn't need one to one care but maybe there is a reason you shouldn't have them, I've just not heard that.

How are you anyway? Better?

I agree with Looney tune. I think you are ok to give medication that has been prescribed by a medical professional.

hi hun, yup better thanks just incredibly busy! EYPS course taking up soooooooooooooo much time and now have four under fives two days a week (with variation of course!) hectic here till xmas at least!

he needed one to one today as he was so clingy and needed to be held constantly. Just as he's still little (7mth) diddn't know if he'd had antibi's b4.

Pleased you're better hun Could you email Mark and ask, they are happy to help with questions like this. Just a thought but if they need one to one care, they really should be at home.

eleanorsmum · 12/11/2008 21:58

I know it's not the same but my 8month old DD had to have been on her anti-biotics 24hrs before she was allowed back to nursery recently.

Not that she was in any fit state to be at nursery with a high temp etc anyway but thought it may help. They said it was infection control and an allergy issue.

eleanorsmum · 12/11/2008 22:29

mmmm thats what i thought ewe, as a cm we follow the same infection guidance for the saftey of sick child and the other children i have duty of care for.

If this is the case, I want to update my policies. Does anyone know of any official wording I can use?
