Bumping for you. But I dont think there is a law. How old is the child? I think current advice is that a 6 month old can be enourage to sit up for a bit, if she can do so on her own.

For baby sitting (you mean the job yes?) it is paid employment unless it is for immediate family and so follows the usual employment laws. I believe that is 14.

lol, baby sitting up. I meant how old legally would a baby sitter have to be.

There is no law on age for babysitting (i run babysitting course for young people aged 13yrs plus). I have looked into and its the parents who are responsible for their child left in the care of someone under 16yrs.

I suppose I dont offer the course to under 13yrs as thats the age you can legally work so many hrs a week.

we suggest to our 13/14yrs old to charge £2.50-£3.50 an hr depending on any experience with siblings cousins etc and to our 15yrs plus we say £3.50-£5 an hr. Then once they are 18yrs can charge what thet feel is reasonable.
