How long can I have adults living at the premises before I need them to be CRB'd?

Have sister-in-law and family staying for a while... I'm sure the limit's a few months before they need to be checked - does anyone know exactly?

Thanks

to be on the safe side I would have the CRBs done before they moved in.

It was a bit of a last minute family drama type thing.

if anyone is actually stayinga t your house you would have to have them crb'd straight away...i know cm's are hot on this, but i was told(slightly diff here!) that most of the dinner staff at my dd's school are 'waiting' for theirs to come through or to go in to get one done!!!...some of these staff have been there YEARS!!!

Do you really have to get relatives CRBd when they stay over??

PinkChick · 10/11/2008 14:22

for a weekend stay, then no i wouldnt 'think' so, but for a few weeks/months then yes. ALL adults living in house need to be crb checked, it would mess up insurance/ofsted reg and so on if you didnt do it

It's ok I've just checked with Ofsted - apparently after 6 weeks you need to start filling in forms.

Thanks anyway.

as a parent i prob would not be to happy with other unchecked adults being on hte premises. prob best to start now.

nannynick · 10/11/2008 15:00

Non CRB checked people can not be left alone with minded children, they must be supervised at all times.
Interesting that Ofsted are saying 6 weeks. Wonder if they have that published anywhere... expect not

OMG! This never even crossed my mind

We have my PIL and staying with us at the moment. Been here about a month so far. They might be out within the next two weeks though so should be fine
Parents of mindees know and have no problem with it at all.
Of course they are never left alone with mindees.

Its a bit of a grey area. Last year I had 2 17 year olds from Germany studying here for 3 months. You CANNOT get German students CRB checked. Ofsted said all I had to do was fill out a form and return, which was what I did

My CM friend was also told 6 weeks by Ofsted when her BIL moved in.
