How much do I pay a Mother's Help?

We are getting a Mother's Help to take care of DD (8 months) while I work from home. We only need her one day a week. We're wanting a trustworthy young person who is building her experience in childcare. We've got great applicants so far (hooray!!), but now the question...

What do we pay her?

Depends where you are - could be between £6 - £10 gross ph.

We're in London... Zone 2.

We went on Gumtree. Got loads of good applicants. We're doing interviews next week. Wow!

If she is very young with little experience then around £8ph gross. If she is older and experienced, looking for a 1 day a week job, in zone 2 you may be looking at around £12 ph gross. As nannynick mentioned on the other thread make sure you agree a gross salary for the reasons he stated.

£12gross for a mothers help

i would thought MUCH less- some nannies dont get that!!

obv depends on her exp, but would have thought more around £6/8gross

or whatever nmw works out, plus maybe a bit more

My £12 gross was based on London zone 2 and the fact that she is recruiting for only 1 day. It's quite likely that she may get experienced nannies that are looking for 1 day positions applying. Some nannies would quite happily do a 1 day job as a Mothers Help.

Even for a younger less experienced girl £8 gross for London (about £6 net) as it is just a 1 day job. For a job with more hours you could probably offer less.

nannies might be happy to do job as a mothers halep for one day, but bet that they wouldnt want mothers help money

i thought a mothers help was a generally a cheap tern for a nanny, apart from the fact that a MHis more willing to do housewrok thna a nanny is

mothers help are generally less experienced in childcare and often have none or few child related qualifications.

they do mostly shared care, some sole charge and do, do soem household tasks.

for one day a week in london I would £65 gross for a 10hr day.
