AIBU My 2 yr old's lunchtime nap at childminder is in pushchair

Childminder has an 8 month old and my 2 yr old. She only has one registered room upstairs and the 8 mth old gets the travel cot in there. My 2 yr old has been with her for a year now but since 8 mth old started 4 weeks ago, has been sleeping in pushchair downstairs for nap.
We discussed before 8 mth old started what childminder would do, including ready-bed option - but she doesn't want to put them in the same room in case my child disturbs the other one or gets out of the ready bed.
AIBU to suggest they share a room for naps? I'd prefer my DS to be able to nap flat.
All advice welcome

I wouldn't want my 2 year old sleeping in a pushchair. Not sure what your alternative is though - sorry I'm not much help!

She should be able to accomodate both at nap times and should only use the pram if that's what you want.

Sofa? I think that's where one of my CM's mindees sleeps

3littlefrogs · 30/09/2008 19:37

My child minder used to put my 2 yr old on the sofa for a sleep, when the baby needed to go upstairs in the cot. I was happy with that because I would probably do it at home.

Pushchair ok occasionally, but not every day IMO.

My dd has never ever slept in her puschair...Never.

So what would your cm do with my dd?. She sleeps in a travel cot at cm or on sofa

chloemegjess · 30/09/2008 19:48

Can she not put a travel cot or ready bed downstairs somewhere? Especially if she doesn't have other children running about?

I can see where she is coming from with sharing the room, but still should put one in a pushchair.

elmoandella · 30/09/2008 20:07

i would mention your not happen with happening everyday. perhaps she could have them sleeping at different times of day. it's obviously more comvenient for her to have them both sleeping together. but thats not your lookout.

definately gotta say your not happy.

SammyK · 30/09/2008 20:40

Does your cm know that you definately do not want pushchair for naps? As a parent this wouldn't bother me in the slightest, but obviously everyone has different views on this. How many rooms upstairs does cm have? Would she be willing to register another room do you think?

If both children nap well I think (as a cm) I would just put them both in same room.

Tipster · 30/09/2008 21:17

thank you all for your words of support + great to hear from a cm too. I'll suggest again trial a shared room (even with DS in ready bed) and reiterate that I'm not happy about him sleeping in a pushchair every day.

Ages ago when I had 3 who all needed to sleep, two had bedrooms, and one slept in the lounge on a ready bed, and I shut myself in the kitchen with the kettle, and my paperwork or whatever till they all woke up! Does she have any separate rooms downstairs, I dont think sleeping in a buggy is acceptable personally, and I wouldn't ever put a mindee to sleep in a buggy in the house.
