CM Club - What minimum do you charge for after school care? (or school hols)

Hi again

I currently have 2 vacancies for school aged children. 2 days of one of the spaces will be used from April but apart from that, I struggle to get school run work, maybe as I'm not in the same village as the school?

Anyway, I'm having an old mindee on an adhoc basis and she's aware if I get full then I can no longer help. Another mum has approached me (I used to look after her ds about 2/3 years ago) and she was wanting me to pick up 1 day a week and have her ds until just 4pm, paying me for an hour. I charge £3.80 per hour and just can't justify taking this on for just £3.80 a week, even though he's lovely. I told her that I can't do a contract for that as it wouldn't be worth my while but if she needed adhoc then I could. I explained that in order to do a contract for the 1 day a week, I'd have to charge a set minimum otherwise it just doesn't make good business sense.

So, in case she changes her mind, I want to think of a minimum charge to put in my policies. Also, she's asked if I can have him for a couple of hours in the half term coming which I've agreed to but if I was to take on a school hols contract, what would you think would be a fair minimum for this?

Any advice on this would be great as I have no idea but don't want to sign up to silly money and turn down other work when it EVENTUALLY comes in.

TIA

Hi, I charge a minium of 2 hours for after schoolies to make it worth my while. I have just signed contracts as well so parents must think it's reasonable.

Cool, think that's fair enough I thought you weren't doing school runs due to bus? Or is this hols?

I really need to get advertising for school runs don't I!!

Have you ever been to the toddler group on garrison? I'm going tomorrow with a friend and just wondered what it's like.

It's a pick up fromthe school bus funny enough.

Been a couple of times, found it very unfriendly. Is your friend garrison?

Oh, perfect then lol. No, my friend is the nanny you may have seen at drop in. She has a baby few weeks older than mine. Oh well, if unfriendly then never mind. At least they do weigh in there

Hi, I charge a min of 2hrs for my after schoolers. Parents are all fine about this, no complaints.

I charge 3 hrs after school & 1.5 hrs before school - this represents the time I am available after all if I have a child that leaves at 4, I can hardly find another child to fill that space

For holidays I have a P/T fee for up to 6 hrs then above that is a F/T fee (eg normally £3.50 - but p/t is £3.75)
