A fridge thermometer

A food temperature probe

at a reasonable price.

DP is muttering about grants should be available as I need something new every week.

Lots of Food Probes on Ebay

nannynick · 23/07/2008 22:03

Cooking Thermometer, £10.99 from Maplin

Fridge Thermometer, £2.99 from Charlies Direct Postage: £4.95 for orders under £75.

ShinyPinkShoes · 23/07/2008 22:06

This one from Ebay looks fine

nannynick · 23/07/2008 22:20

You could get both from Thermometers Direct
Digital probes - £12 to £20 depending on what you fancy. They have others that cost alot more, but those in £12 to £20 range look quite good. They have Liquid Crystal fridge thermometer's costing from about £1.50, also dial type £1.50 upwards, and digital from £9.
Delivery (via Royal Mail 1st Class - they estimate 2-5 days) £2.50 per order.

Remind DP that it's tax deductible.

navyeyelasH · 24/07/2008 01:07

Nannynick what do you mean by this? I'm trying to learn about tax at the minute.. do you mean the thermometers are an expense and you can get all of the cost back or just the VAT or something?

Tax makes my head hurt

MrsMacaroon · 24/07/2008 01:12

someone told me today that there are grants available for childminders setting up....

nannynick · 24/07/2008 07:11

They would be a business expense, as if you were not involved in food preparation for a paying consumer, you would not need these.

nannynick · 24/07/2008 07:11

Childcare startup grants are only available in certain areas (not sure if there is a list anywhere).

KaySamuels · 24/07/2008 07:53

navy - you don't get all the cost back, a lot of people do think this and it's not true, your expenses are simply not included in what you are income taxed on, you are just taxed on your profits after expenses as a cm. Hope thatkes sense.

When I started up all I needed was my stationery, first aid and fire blanket as I was already babyproofed for ds.

Tha\nks for all those links will check them out when I get a quiet moment today!
