I have only just registered & was looking to start asap when my Landlord tells us we may have to leave at the end of the contract at the start of Sept Has anyone had this happen to them before & how long does it take for them to come out & do a new inspection & send the new certificate out? I guess atleast I havent started yet so dont have any children to have to say to the parents I cant look after them for however many weeks while its sorted.

Often they don't come out

You will need to do a risk assessment & send it in then they let you carry on.

NB as always with OFSTED sometimes they do it differently

Oh right I would have thought with it being a totaly different property they would have come come out & dont they need to send a new certificate for the new property before you can start?

You'd think they would

You send the risk assessment & if they think it's OK they send a certificate

Maybe a week or 2

cherryyellow82 · 05/07/2008 12:19

So can I still mind from the new property or do I have to wait for the new certificate?

I think that if you have not yet started minding and have not yet had an inspection (other than maybe the pre-registration inspection) then they will probably come out and visit.

When we moved house ofsted did not come out, but they said it was because I had only had my proper inspection a few months prior.

give them a call and see as different regions probably do things differently, it is ofsted after all

Oh and yes, you HAVE to have the new cert before you can start.

momof2boys · 06/07/2008 18:53

sorry but i have always been told that when you move house you HAVE to have ofsted come and inspect the house BEFORE you can childmind, and then wait for your new certificate to come through.( it's just like when you register the first time they have to do a safew house inspection). But i should phone them anyway. I belong to a childminder forum and there have been a few move house and they have all had to go the process again.

cherryyellow82 · 06/07/2008 22:50

I did think I would have to go through it again as I cant see how it would be safe to carry on without them having come out to do the inspection. Will phone & ask x
