thought i'd start another thread altough have posted on the back of another....

anyway!

hi ladies, we are looking for live in help of some sort when #2 arrives for about 6 months.

question is what happens with tax and national insurance for an au pair? do we have to pay it? declare her income?

also (sorry so many questions) how much would you pay them weekly after room and board and how many hours a week would they work??

also have had a look at aupair world web site, but would i be better going to an agency?

we are looking at mothers help's too but looking pricey in london at £80 per night!!

thanks so much

So long as below tax threshold of around 90 a week then you don't have to worry about tax/NI and no need to declare

Standard rates are £60 for 25 hours. Slightly more in London.

I've not had any luck with agencies myself but others swear by almondbury agency. Gumtree and nannyjob.co.uk both also good as alternative to APworld/great AP sites.
