Need a babysitter for my four month old DD (yes, yes, shoot me now) for a couple of dates in July. Can anyone recommend anyone they've used?

Tinies 020 8642 8866

Have used them a fair bit over he last couple of years

imananny · 26/06/2008 09:32

nick is in surrey, though not sure if near epsom

and why would we shoot you? NOTHING wrong with you wanting to go out and have a social life

hope you find someone nice

Surreynanny · 26/06/2008 09:37

I offer this service. My website is www.surreynanny.com and can be contacted on the phone number on the site or surreynanny at hotmail dot co dot uk.

MissingMyHeels · 26/06/2008 11:27

Fabulous, thank you!!

imananny - thankfully you obviously don't share the views of some on here, asked something before about this (not in this section) and was told I was awful to leave her under six months!

MISSINGMYHEELS - OMG thats awful - sorry that people and prob mums on here made you feel like that

you are only human, why shouldnt you go out by self/with hubby/friends etc and have a night away relaxing, esp knowing that your dd is safe and being well looked after!!

Mummies NEED me time away from their precious children , it makes them all the better parents imo

lindseyfox · 26/06/2008 17:27

i have proxy parent for 2 children when baby was 3mths and older one just 2yrs.doing it again this weekend baby is 5 and half months now.

why shouldnt you have a night out or weekend away with out your children. If you can afford appopriate childcare then i dont see it as an issue

not everyone has family to help out

pagwatch · 26/06/2008 17:30

I use sitters and have a son with profound SN
they have been excellent at sorting out and meeting his/my needs.
Had three or four babysitters - all well qualified and responsible/professional
Actually have the confidence to have a social life again ( only been 12 years )

and no I don't work for them

pagwatch · 26/06/2008 17:31

I'm in Surrey ( Guildford) BTW

MissingMyHeels · 26/06/2008 18:16

Thanks for the recommendation pagwatch, have just checked out the website, looks good and they have 88 people in my immediate area will def get in contact.

Surreynanny - have emailed you also.

Alas I don't cover Epsom area these days. Used to a few years back, when fuel prices were cheaper!

With a 4 month old, I would suggest you find a babysitter who your DD can get to know. Agencies are able to supply various people, and while they may try to secure you the same person everytime, it won't be guaranteed.

You could try finding a nanny/childcare worker in your area, using the many internet listing sites. FindASitter and NannyJob spring to mind.

pagwatch - I'm intrigued to find out more about how sitters is able to provide care for your son with SN, as the sitters website says they don't care for children with special needs - see Questions

I work for sitters and I found that they reliable for both parents & minders( & children of course)I frequently babysit in Epsom for them.

bitsy · 17/12/2008 21:47

Be careful when choosing a nanny service. We chose night-nanny.com in surrey and experienced many problems from the nanny (Kate Taggart) cancelling at the last moment - via text at 6pm when she was meant to turn up at 8.30pm on the same day. This happened to us at least twice. Also this agency did not seem very bothered considering the fees you pay them, i.e. £20 per night plus another £80 to the night nanny. Kate also has her own nanny service called preciousnannyagency.co.uk. Then we experienced Kate getting mixed up with her diary and not turning up because she believed we had booked her on another night. Extremely disappointing when you get ready to have a night off.

I live in Woking and have just started using Sitters - very impressed.

Verso · 08/02/2009 17:40

So how did it go, missingmyheels? Any feedback on the service? I would love to be able to have a night away with my DH (we haven't had a single night without the children since DD1 was born in 2005!) - partly because our marriage is creaking a bit since DD2 came along in November...

Ewe · 08/02/2009 17:46

MissingMyHeels here - in my new name, obviously! Very odd, just saw this in active convos and thought it looked interesting, then realised it was me

As it happens, I didn't need to use any of the suggestions in the end as my Mum saved the day. Good luck finding someone though, I remember finding it quite stressful. One of the nursery nurses at my DD's nursery does babysitting (not sure about overnighters) on the side - do you have your DD1 in any sort of childcare where they might do something similar?

AngelNanny · 08/02/2009 18:27

Hi Missing my Heels, what dates in July would you need?

I may be able to help, I am a qualified nanny and have 5yrs childcare experience.

AngelNanny · 08/02/2009 18:30

Silly me, just realised how old this thread is! lol

poppy34 · 08/02/2009 18:30

agree with love2bake re sitters - have not been disappointed in them yet

PeaceNLove · 09/02/2009 17:24

Hi I know someone in Epsom who may be able to help you, they are just going through the registration process at the moment as a childminder and I would not hesitate to leave my child with them, (You will feel the same if you met her) I will have to confirm with her if she was interested and if you want to know more just give me a shout back and ill point you in right direction.
(Probably a tad cheaper than using sitters as well)

PeaceNLove · 09/02/2009 17:25

lol oh same here.... old post lol!

Ewe · 09/02/2009 18:22

Would be interested in finding her details anyway as looking for someone to supplement my daughters nursery sessions and will need babysitting again - I hope!

Supernanny19 · 09/02/2009 19:14

Im available. contact me on [email protected] and i shall send you my experience etc.

happynights · 21/02/2009 07:58

Hello, I run Night Nannies within Surrey, and we're a specialist agency offering overnight care for babies of all ages. Our qualified night nannies will not only care for your baby through the night, but will help guide them into a good sleep routine and we can also offer trouble-shooting for older babies with sleep problems. I would completely refute bitsy's post - I personally care a great deal about the quality of our night nannies and am very familiar with the night nanny she references. Our agency fees are in line with, if not cheaper than, all our competitors but as with all agencies the fees reflect the quality of the night nannies we offer and their levels of experience. Ultimately any individual night nanny is only as good as her last reference, and as they are all individuals with lives of their own, they too are occasionally unwell or have reasons they cannot work at short notice! I'm happy to help anyone looking for a help with nights - take a look at www.nightnannies.com or email me at [email protected] any time.
