How feasible is getting an au pair in London nowadays?

Has anyone recently tried to get an au pair in London? I know it used to be perfectly common before Brexit, but not sure how doable it is nowadays.
anyone with recent experiences?

It's almost impossible since Brexit but I believe Starmer has re-signed up to the Erasmus program starting next year so hoping au pairs can come back as part of this because they were a god send for working parents!

Oh god, fingers crossed… I was an au pair before uni and it was such a great experience. Would love to give someone that and get an extra pair of hands at home for small bits and bobs

I know loads of people who have ‘visiting friends’ who help with babysitting, recommended by ‘visiting friends’ of other families and they stay 6 months before they’re replaced by another ‘friend of a friend’. In short it’s hard to do through proper channels anymore but easy enough if you can get recommendations.

The issue is that's illegal. You're open to other people reporting you or your au pair asking for more (hush) money and it's obviously a no if you work in a financial job.

Aupair was a visa and never an EU deal. Look up aupair websites on google

Look at how much choice you have, many active on the website, right now

https://www.aupairworld.com/en/find-aupair

I think I used this website to come over here and stay, married to an English man

It's probably changed since you came over. The only working visas currently available are for Australians, New Zealanders, Canadians, South Koreans and Japanese people.

The majority of people on au pair world are unable to come and work in the UK legally.

Au pairs were sometimes on a visa (certain countries tier 5 and 5) but pre brexit we had au pairs from a variety of European countries who stayed for 6 - 12 months with us under a cultural exchange system. We paid well and they had time for language classes and cultural stuff
post Brexit it is impossible for most au pairs to be here legally

i would look for a flexi nanny share or childcare student who is looking for extra hours
