settling with new cm when working

ok so cm has decided to take a job in a nursery and I work (part time). How do you go about settling process with a new cm? Would you take your dc on a non work day for a few weeks and stay with them and just pay the extra (this option will hurt financially) Take a few days off work to settle or do half days for a couple of weeks? Surely someone will have been in this position. I was not working when i first put him with a cm it was just to give me a bit of a break

I did my settling in session on non-work days (this should be free) and then just switched him accross.

I was lucky, my new CM is great and I have had no problems.

Hope this helps.

I am in NZ and can do one free visit but then she will charge, thanks, I think this is what I will do, the idea of leaving him with someone new terrifies me a bit to be honest (pfb I fully admit)

Well, you are a better mummy than I am because I would do a drop and run on Monday morning. I find if the childminder has attractive big toys they really couldn't care less whether or not I was there -- in fact they'd probably rather I buggered off.

Arrange to see new cm and arrange how many settling is sessions she/he offers..(i do 3 each from 1-3 hours, gradually getting longer each time)..best to do these when your not working as you can drop off, come back and chat aout how it went etc.
I dont charge for these settling in sessions, but we do sign contracts prior ..however after the initial sessions i offer a settling in 'period' of 4-6 weeks so if either party in unhappy/finds its not working you can leave/i can ask to leave without notice period.
