Training: Fire Safety Awareness - Is this suitable for a nanny to do?

I have received a training brochure from one of my neighbouring local authorities, and they are running a Fire Safety Awareness course for Childminders in a few weeks time. It will cover Fire Prevention, Fire Risk Assessments, Use of portable fire equipment, correct action to take in the event of a fire.

Seems to me to be something of use to anyone, as we all could have a fire occur in our home or workplace.

As a nanny, doing this course is worthwhile, isn't it?

Anyone done this course (or similar one) in the past? How did you find it... good, bad, other?

when i worked on an NHS maternity unit, we all had to do 3 lots of training

first aid
manual handling
fire safety

they were all very courses but i don't think that the latter 2 are particularly useful when it comes to nannying. I still put the certificates in my folder thouhg!

guess it doesnt hurt to have more notches on your bed post so to speak

the more certificates you have whether food hygiene, fire safety etc, then it looks good in your folder

have you got a link Nick for places it can be done or the cost/time it takes etc?

Thank you

It is a couple of hours. Cost under £50. Contact your local authority Early Years & Childcare Service. Only one Borough Council in my area offers it, so may not be a course many councils offer.
