What makes a good nanny agency?

Hi everyone!

I run a nanny/maternity nurse agency (an am also a nanny myself) and I’m always looking to improve the way I work. I’d love to hear from parents about what makes an agency stand out in 2025! I'd like to know what matters most, what puts you off and what you wish more agencies would do.

I’m very open to feedback and want to make sure I’m keeping up with what families and nannies are looking for, so any thoughts are genuinely appreciated.

  • What makes you choose one agency over another?
  • What gives you confidence in an agency?
  • What features, support or communication style are most important to you?
  • Where would you go to look for an agency?

Thanks so much to anyone who takes the time to reply. Honest feedback really helps!

I have employed two nannies. I haven’t used an agency although I really thought about it when we moved cities and had to change nannies.

its really hard - what do people want? I really want support in my role as an employer but most of them seemed to be expensive match agencies and I can do that bit myself!

Exactly this.

Little ones London is a good example of this. There for their introduction placement fee. You don’t hear from them thereafter 😅

Thank you for your feedback! By support in your role as an employer - do you mean help with payroll etc/advice when any issues arise?

Thanks for your response!

My agency is www.thenannyandmaternityagency.co.uk

My fees are dependant on the placement but are within the average range for London! In terms of replacements, I offer a 12 month free replacement service. I think this is really important for piece of mind and I know I would want this guarantee myself if I was paying an agency. :)

A 12mth replacement is very good

most are 2/3mths

Do you get a lot of maternity work in London or do you cover other areas
