How much should I pay nanny to work a long weekend for us?

Our lovely live out nanny has agreed to look after our 2 kids (3 and 7 months) for Thursday, Friday, Sat and Sun while my husband and I escape for some time on our own. We will be away 3 nights.

DD1 is a good sleeper (til 7.30am) but DD2 might wake in the night and is up by 6.30am

Any thoughts on how much I should pay her?

I was thinking normal rate for days then

  • hourly rate for 7.30pm - 10.00pm
  • £40 over night
  • hourly rate for 6.30am - 8.30am (when she usually starts)

Does this sound fair?

I would also probably take the Monday off work and give her that day off. That way she gets a day off rather than a two week stretch of working every day -- which is pretty tough no matter what you do for a living. And you could see the kids on the Monday after having been away from them for a few days.

4 full days rate plus a tip on top

You have to keep her happy!

Thanks all - she only works for us Thursday and Friday so I can't give her Monday off. But I'll do £50 for the overnights.

In that case, I think you should give her Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off.
