Ofsted Registration Fees... who pays?

I know this has been covered somewhere else but I can't find the thread.

I suggested to my Boss that we go halves as I already have the quals and so on, but am registering so they get the vouchers.

Do you get any other benefits as a Nanny? Because I'm finding it hard to see where I gain, besides being more employable and they were quite happy to take me on unregistered. I don't mind going halves but it's a lot of money to shell out just to save them a few quid in taxes.

Maybe I'm being really selfish about the whole thing.

It really depends on the employer - some will pay, others won't.

As they took you on unregistered, I would say that they are now changing their method of payment and thus as a goodwill gesture (so you agree the revised contract) they should pay the registration fee.

If you were job hunting, then I feel you should be paying for your own registration, so you have more chance of getting employment.

One advantage of being registered, is that local authorities should provide training. However, I'm still finding it impossible to access training from my local authority. Though they do send things out to me occasionally and say that they are developing suitable training.
