**DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CM AND NANNY**

Happy Monday

Just wanted to see exactly what is the difference in terms of DUTIES between a CM/Nanny (LIVE OUT NANNY).

I know the obvious differences between the 2 are, costs and place of work.

Is that it?

Can you expect a Nanny to do more than a CM (if so what)? Less (what won't she do a CM would) ? Any vice versa...

Any guidance on this would be great.

A nanny will look after your child if he/she is ill, probably wouldn't be able to take to a childminder because of other children.

A Nanny works in your home so will generally do all child related duties ie - laundry, cooking, keeping child's bedroom tidy etc. A lot of nannies are also quite happy to keep the house ticking over for you by loading the dishwasher/ running the odd errand for you etc. - as long as you don't take advantage!

The other big advantage is that with a Nanny coming to you you only have to get yourself up,fed, dressed and out of the house in the morning as opposed to all of you and a Nanny will just take over where you leave off.

A disadvantage of a Nanny is obviously the cost and the fact that you then have to become an employer while a CM is self employed.

Good luck with the childcare minefield!

A nanny works for you and her job is to do as you say within the limits of her contract. A childminder sets her own activities, schedule, tells you what she does/doesn't do and you pay her a fee to include your child in the existing routine.

For example, with a nanny, you can sign you child up for a class (say ballet) and instruct nanny to take her there. A childminder might do this for you, but she might have other children who make that schedule unrealistic. And so you would have to either sign your child up for ballet on a day when you can take her there or forget about ballet.

A nanny also does child related doestic duties (foodpreparation, laundry, tidying, bath time, etc.)

if you wanted a qualified nanny but found it expensive, try having a nanny with their own child. im a nanny of 18 yrs with 2 children, and i take them to work with me, i charge less as i class myself as nannyshare. worth a go. good luck xx

try putting your own ad on gumtree or netmums to find a nanny with own child

other option is through an agency BUT obv have to pay fees then
