insurance for nanny share?

We are preparing to set up a nanny share and are wondering what kind of insurance if any should we get? eg if something were to happen to the other family's child in our house, how do we protect ourselves from getting sued? are we being paranoid even thinking about this, or do people think it is right to be insured?
finally are most professional nannies insured, and what does their insurance cover? any tips/experiences would be gratefully received...

Check with your home insurance to see if you are covered for accidents to the visiting child and to see if you have employer's liability insurance (in case your house harms nanny).
I don't know if most nannys are insured, the ones that I have employed have not seen it as a priority. We offered to pay the insurance ( with MichelMorton, or MortenMicheal I can never remember which way round it is) for one of our nannys but she never got round to filling in the paperwork. I think it was about £60.

In England, nannies registered by Ofsted are now required to have liability insurance. However, you should check with candidates with regard to their insurance cover.
Morton Michel and NCMA provide nanny insurance. Morton Michel can also supply House Insurance, should you find that your current policy does not include staff and visiting children.

most professional nannies should have insurance - costs £60

millarkie - very kind of you to offer to pay the nanys insurance BUT if something happened to your child and you did sue the nanny, it could validate her insurance and your claim, that you paid.

The nanny nneds to pay for the insurance herself
