I think thats the reason they choose childminders because nurseries you cannot get away with that.

this realy makes me so (angry) one of my parents asked if she could pay me next week instead of this week as she could not afford to pay and that i have got a husband so i don't need to be paid of cause i said no pay me this week

libbysmummy · 02/06/2008 21:55

Sue9398 I know exactly what you mean! One of mine always says can she pay me a bit late because she is "skint" Yet, if her work paid her late she would really kick off wouldn't she?! And then her DS turns up at mine wearing a new pair of Clarks trainers at £35 a go that she 'just couldn't resist' as she puts it Grrrrr
I do think it is a total lack of respect and they think we do this job for a bit of pocket money while our husbands go off and earn the real money!!! This particular mum is also bad at not turning up with barely any notice..... Thank god I start maternity leave in two weeks!

right girls, i think we need to sort out our policies..DRUM them home when intervew=iwing new aprents and the least little sniff of disregard, pullt hem straight away!..we succesfully run our own business' for gods sake!

poppy34 · 03/06/2008 17:36

pink chick good point - am reading this and am genuinely shocked that people are treating you like this. As you say -no nursery would put up with this so why shoudl you?

NotABanana · 03/06/2008 17:40

I think, sadly, that a lot of people don't see child minding as a proper job as it is generally not very well paid and they think the people who childmind do it for pin money; therefore no biggy if they pay late.

Still no call. have just posted a letter to ask whats going on and the need to pay outstanding fees. hopefully she will respond. so how long shd i give her before i cancel her contract. we agreed on 4wks notice.

Jeez, this woman is horrible. I'd cancel the contract as soon as I found someone else to take her place.

Kewcumber · 03/06/2008 21:43

I can;t beleive parents treat the person who looks after their child like this

AtheneNoctua · 03/06/2008 21:48

Hi Kew.

WallOfSilence · 03/06/2008 21:50

My c/minder is very well paid. She has my ds 5 days a week from 12 to 4 and my dd 4 days a week from 2 to 4 & she gets paid £180 a week.

I would never in a million years dream of making her wait for her money. Even if I know the kids aren't going to be there on a Friday I pay her on the Thursday.

I think it's extremely bad manners for her not to have called you & explained why her dd wasn't with you on the arranged days.

I really appreciate my c/minder & reading this thread makes me realise that the relationship we have is a very good one!
