I was going to make a start on drafting some policies together this afternoon.

I reckon that all of these policies are fairly common..

? Accident / Incident
? Child Protection / Safeguarding children
? Closure
? Emergency
? Large equipment
? Safety on outings, including Lost Child Procedure
? Terrorist attack ???????
? Uncollected children procedure
? Visitors
? Dropping and collecting
? Exclusion
? Medication for prescribed and over-the-counter medicines
? Toilet Training and nappy information
? Sleeping baby
? Sun Protection
? Healthy Eating
? Hygiene
? Illness and Sickness
? Observation
? Outside Play
? Special Needs
? Care, Learning and Play
? Early Years
? Behaviour Management
? Disability Policy including Inclusion Awareness statement
? Equal Opportunities and Celebrating Diversity Policy
including Anti Discriminatory practice
? Working in Partnership with Parents
? Biting
? Bullying
? Complaints Procedure
? Confidentiality
? My Fees
? Paperwork
? Admissions

Are there any I've missed?????

.......and that's before I start on the contract.

Does anyone know where I can get a list of infectious diseases and when they are safe to return?

I suppose at least once they're done they're done! Subject to review - do a need a policy on when to review LOL?

ALSO - do I need to have a locked file to store children's records or is in a filing cabinet fine?

Sorry Shoshe - yes you did - the only other one I can think of is Chicken pox - is it 24 hours after the last spot scabs over?

I have split my information pack with the first pages titled 'Parents Information'. This has sections on settling in, communication, outings/outside play, car safety, potty training, toys from home, items to bring, daily routine, eyfs, drop off/collection, fees etc then policies & procedures follow on such as babies, non collection, equal ops, sen, safeguarding children, complaints, accident/emergency, lost child, nutrition, sick children, behaviour, bullying, health and safety. I then put at end 'policies last reviewed on.......'

Bromley Childminding Assossiation have some useful templates for policies to get you started.....www.bromleycma.org.uk as does the NCMA website.
