Search for a childminder in Oxford

Do you know of a nanny organisation in the Oxford area who do background checks and references? Where do I look best for childminders? How do I find a childminder who has their own car as children are older and lots of driving to and picking up is involved?

Nannies and childminders are different, be very clear about what you are looking for as you've used the words interchangeably.

Thanks for pointing this out. I have not realised but I think a childminder will be really what I am looking for. A childminder who can regularly do pick ups and a stay and olay during the weeks and also do weekends and regularly whole days and evenings.

Going by your requirements, it’s more a Nanny that you need. The huge majority of childminders don’t work weekends nor do whole days which include evenings. They also generally need set hours each week rather than chopping and changing of days.

It does sound more like a nanny role.

Where do you want the childcare to take place? Childminders work in their own home, set the terms and conditions of their service and provide invoices to be paid for that service. They are self employed and registered with ofsted.

Nannies come to your home. You employ them and tell them what the job description and salary is. You pay holiday and their tax and NI etc.

Child minders and nurseries are on your local council (both private and council funded) if you search childminders and nurseries in your local area the webpage will come up. (Ours is called families information service but may differ in other localities)

Nannys I’m less sure on but I assume there are agencies you can contact or you can hire yourself and do your own background checks.

Yes, that really sounds then more like a nanny role. Was not sure who does what. thanks

Definitely sounds like you need a nanny. You will employ them and need to do payroll and pension or use a payroll company.
You will probably be looking at around £16-£20 an hour plus paying mileage if you want them to use their own car.

For agencies you could try:
