Kids clubs/nursery over summer holidays

We have a 3 year old and nearly 5 year old (currently in reception). We have been trying to make a plan for the summer holidays as we both work full time but kids clubs seem so expensive. Am I correct that the government funding 30 hours a week for nursery children doesn’t extend over the summer holidays? And children aged 5 aren’t entitled to any government funding during school holidays? Thank you.

You have to check if the nursery is term time only. With holiday clubs if they are ofstead registered then you can pay through the gov account so save 20% but most of these are for school aged children.

At the moment one of mine has stretched funding throughout the year and we pay for the older one to do holiday club at the same nursery.

But next year we won't have this so my plan is to deposit a small amount each month into our tax free childcare account so it's there ready for the summer holidays, as well as the few half terms we'll need.

We also use some annual leave and grandparent help though.

Not sure about yours, but my son's free hours start in September (he'll be 13 months). He can either have 30 hours term time only, or 22 hours spread across the whole year

If your nursery child gets stretched funding this will continue until 22nd August. If you are getting term time funding it will end in July.

You may be able to use tax free childcare for both children in school holidays, check the childcare choices website for information.
