Hi found a lovely Mexican AP. Now I know i can't have an AP from there.. not part of the scheme but does anyone know of any other way to get her in??? (legal please). Hubby has taken a shine to her ..probably cos she's pretty, ..his reason he likes mexican food) Mmmm thats a recommendation then!! Any advice or recommendations gratefully received.. PS I have scoured the offical websites and she can get a visa for 6 months max for work but does that means she then needs a work permit??

Don't think it is possible, as for a work permit you would need to prove that you are unable to find someone within the EEA who can do the job.

Hi ya, I am Mexican myself (British Citizen for 4 years) and came over originally as an aupir. (ended up staying as I met an English DH)

If you really like her, the advice I can give you is that you get her to get a Student visa, she will have to pay (mybe you will assist her with this) for at least 6 months of College (to do English) and then I think she would have to get the visa in Mexico.
Unfortunately it's illegal for Mexicans to become aupairs, so she should not mention this at immigration when arriving. However, it's legal to work 20 hours a week on a student visa, so once she is here, she would be legal to be employed.

Have you seen ukvisas website juliette? It's very helpful, you can explore your options there.

Juliette, the laws have been tightened recently, specifically to stop non EU people coming here to work in those kinds of jobs which do not require qualifications (which is a real shame from our point of view). Because I hate the idea of switching AP's every 6 months when their tourist/studet visas run out, I now do not follow up on nationals from countries where I know there will be problems. Very frustrating.

Check the visa websites, as we have special arrangements for some countries on mutual AP programs, and some special arrangements for commonwealth countries, ancestral links and so on. Mexico, though, will be a problem.
