CMing different hours to contract

I have a child with me each morning for 4 hours. His mum has informed me that for one week she won't need me for the contracted hours but has asked me to do a couple of after school pick ups/drop home (child would only be with me in the car for about 10 mins).

Just wondering how others might charge for this...

I would charge for the normal contracted hours and depending if it is a special trip to the school a pick up charge, if you are already going and it is achild you have had a while, probably wouldnt charge for the afternoon.

if the child is on holiday or off ill they pay as normal plus the car trips on top

If its just one week I would charge the normal contracted hours unless I have been able to fill the place with another child. I don't charge 2 families for the same place. For a school aged child I charge session fees which work out at the cost of 1 hour before school and 3 hours after school. Parent books & pays for whole session even if they need a shorter time period. Because otherwise they'd never get a place, I'd only take the ones that want full hours.

For the pick ups/drop offs I charge 40p per mile. A colleague now charges 60p per mile. Its usual to start charging childminding hours from the time you leave to pick up the child.
