Redundancy impact to gov childcare allowance

I've just stopped working due to redundancy. I want to keep my child in nursery 3 or 4 days a week to keep her friendships and routine. I plan to be working again within 6 months.

My fiancé who's the childs dad works full time.

Will we lose the 30hrs and the tax free childcare account? I've been earning well above the minimum requirement up to now but it says both parents must be earning £10k+.

I don’t think you will be eligible for it, when are you due to reconfirm? You may be lucky to fall into the grace period which might cover you to the end of the summer term. You would need to contact childcare choices and ask them.

As far as I know, you will lose eligibility at the end of the 'Grace period' which follows the end of your funding eligibility.

Log into your account to check when the grace period ends.

If you are working again before this grace period ends, and earning the necessary amount, then the funding should carry straight on.

You need to stop using the tax free childcare straight away, but you won't lose the 30 hours until you are due to reconfirm (at which point you'll lose them because you won't be able to confirm you remain eligible).

Thank you. I'm due to reconfirm my eligibility mid April. She starts school in September so I only need it for a few months. It would be a shock to pay full whack especially after losing my salary temporarily.

Unfortunately yes you will lose them. I work in a nursery. Is there no possibility of finding something earlier before you have to reconfirm?

Thanks. It might make sense to find a part time temp role to keep the funding. It will take longer to get a full time job in my field as it's quite competitive with a few rounds of interviews.

You'll still get 15 hours

Just found out from the nursery that the grace period is until end August which is brilliant. Thanks all.
