Extra support for single mum of 5yo

I’m a single mum to a very lively 5 (almost 6) yo. I have 100% custody and this isn’t likely to change any time soon (occasional supervised visitation but even that is sporadic and unpredictable).
I also work full time, a mix of from home and on the road, live with my mum but can’t expect her to take all the slack left from deadbeat ex. Son also is now understanding more what went on with his dad which is leading so some major mum guilt.
I am on track for major burnout. Can’t afford huge sums but does anyone have suggestions for things that could help, especially on weekends as I feel that currently every minute of my life is taken up!
Thanks in advance for any (kind) suggestions.

You want to out him in childcare at the weekends?

Activity clubs like football or drama? Surely he is at school most of the time you are working.

I'm in a very similar set up (bar DM unwell so can't help!) right now and get it. It's relentless work/parenting and repeat!

Something that's helped in the past is finding a local teen (14-15ish) who wants a few hours work to either play with DS in the house whilst I did my own thing somewhere else in the house, or take him to the playground and I'll sit in the cafe in the playground with a book! Either way DS was getting stimulation and playtime (and loved it) with me close by in case of emergencies, and it was miles cheaper than a proper babysitter with qualifications/DBS/first aid etc.

Activity club at the weekend, or get a babysitter so you can have an evening out?
