Form the HNW families. How much would you pay per day for a nanny!?
Currently getting £260 per day.

@exprecis those figures are low. An unqualified/ inexperienced nanny would go for that salary.
I'm not talking about the average family. Which is why i expressed HNW.

I'm a band 6 nurse and don't earn that

Blushingm · 23/02/2025 19:02

And I also have a masters and can prescribe

@EbbandTheWanderingHearts if you're qualified with many years experience why are you working in a nursery with minimum pay? Genuinely curious.

How rude! You don't know this persons circumstances

WWY · 23/02/2025 19:06

@Blushingm it's a well known fact that nurses are underpaid. This thread isn't about nurses.
I chose my job and you chose yours.

But you're also bashing people in your profession - young women who work in nurseries with minimal training, but not you, you're a highly qualified professional, unlike the minions in a nursery?

I'd not want you caring for my children with the attitude you are coming across as having here.

WWY · 23/02/2025 19:10

@Blushingm re the nursery role. I wasn't being rude. I was merely asking a question.

'Have you ever spent time on a nursery? They're run by young women who have done minimal training. There is a reason why families pay premium for a good nanny'

Not 'on' a nursery that would just be weird. However I do work at a nursery. I have a masters in Early Childhood Education. For the record we have 3 apprentices who are working towards their level 3. Every other member of staff is level 3 or above and the average age of the staff team is 42.

Your ignorance and pre-conceived outdated assumptions are actually frightening.

Obviously it was a typo. I meant 'in' not on. But clearly an educated guess would have been clear.
I've had experiences with nurseries which would make your toes curl. It's wonderful that yours isn't like that. Thank goodness.
But, that isn't the norm unfortunately.

@Blushingm
Well there is a difference. I don't call them minions...
There is nothing wrong with being young in training. But you get what you pay for. Surely you can see the difference?
But it's fine if you think everyone is the same. That's exactly why I mentioned HNW families. They value the difference.

I work for a HNW family but only for 3-4 hours after school 4 days a week so I do pick up, homework and dinner. I earn £52/ hour gross. I have 22 years experience and have a degree (not in anything childcare related though have done various childcare courses over the years). Yes, I am hugely overpaid but the family like me and it works for us all.

£52?! Wow that's definitely unheard of. Amazing for you though!
