SOS! My Nanny is leaving!!

Help! My nanny’s timing couldn’t be worse - she’s leaving just as I’m going back to work. Two toddlers are a handful (and expensive!), so we’re really worried about childcare costs. Any advice for finding something affordable? Has anyone had good experiences with particular agencies?

You've paid your nanny while you've been home and your worried about costs? Really? Do you live in the real world?

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 18/02/2025 15:58

So you've been at home with a nanny?

Spongedbob · 18/02/2025 16:02

well to be fair I would’ve paid for a nanny if I’d have had the money. Two toddlers and a baby is hard work.

Op Why can’t you just get a new Nanny from the same agency?

TallulahBetty · 18/02/2025 16:03

You needed a nanny while not at work? LOL

And now worried about it being affordable when you'll have more income now back at work? Double LOL

FanofLeaves · 18/02/2025 16:04

How long has she been with you? What’s the notice period?

Would need to know area before recommending agencies.

Your comment is really insensitive @PinkPonyClub25 . You never know what someone might be going through.

Our nanny was only part-time, so was coming in 3 times a week, for 3-4 hours at a time to help out. It gave me time to run errands and focus on some freelance work, etc. I’m keen to go with Little Ones again as everything went perfect, but I want to see what else is out there and weigh my options

Try Abbaville Nannies, and The Wimbledon Nanny Agency.

Tricky to get someone for such part time hours though.

You’re not allowed a nanny on Mumsnet by the way 🙄 (I am a nanny)

Nappyvalleynet is good for finding someone local, also clapham mums amd nannies Facebook group

Daisy - silent night nannies

Tonya - Signature staff

Millsie - maternity nurse company

Katie /Nola - Eden

These 4 usually get my London based jobs

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/02/2025 21:26

If you managed a part time nanny while not working sure now back to work you will be able to afford a nanny

I DIYed my nanny recruitment via employment sites but I was confident on interviewing and checking DBS and references, etc. My fabulous nanny was with us six years. Agencies take a hefty cut - the first thing I'd do if I were you is ask around in your parent friends circle to see if anyone has a valued, good nanny looking for a new role. In your area there will definitely be some nannies around.
