On Wednesday it was my day off. She was in her garden for about 2 hours, cutting grasss, digging, planting etc. No sign of the 2 under 5's she minds. I stood on the back step to speak to her and noticed (because of the way the living room windows are i can see into hers) the 2 under 5s in high chairs inf ront of the TV!.
Then yesterday morning from 9.15 until 10am her and 2 of her friends were in the back garden smoking and having coffee and chatting, and I could hear the toddler crying and shouting, and periodically she would go in and see him.
I just feel really annoyed, she could have cut her grass at the weekend

Grrrrrr

Report her to the relevant authority.

If she was my childminder, I would want to know but I appreciate that it might not be possible to talk to the parents.

People like her give cm a bad name.

Yabbadabbadooo · 09/05/2008 11:40

Report her.

Report her, I would be very unhappy if a CM stuck my daughter in front of TV while the sun was shining.

She never seem to take them out. I know I am out the house 3 hours a day, but one gets picked up at 12.30 and I leave at 11. She never has them in teh garden, I know we have small gardens but when I finally (eventually) start again I plan to use my garden as much as possible.
I used to go and sit in the park or go for walks with mindees, or even playing in the garden with them

Oh my goodness, that is awful. I hate hearing cm stories like that as it can make people think all cm's are that way.

We are not, in case anyone is wondering!

Repor her I say! She should not be cutting grass and leaving children in highchairs on their own anyway.

Today is th first day that I've been in with the under 5 I mind. After school run I take all 4 children to the park with juice and snacks and play stuff in the car as it is not anywhere near my house. We've had a fab week (well 4 days of it anyway) playing in the sun and having an ice cream. I've put suncream on and hats too.

You'd think she want to be in the garden at themo, using the water tray and sandpit or painting outside which saves your floor, you get colourful grass though! Can't go to park later, have got children going early today as its friday.

OMG!!

AS a parent of a child who spends 2 days a week with a childminder, I hate reading stories like this.

I have complete faith in my childminder, but it puts doubt in your mind, nevertheless....

If the children really were restrained in their highchairs so they couldn't move, for even a little while while she was out, you MUST report her. Children's safety and wellbeing MUST come first and think of how uncomfortable they must have been, if they needed a wee or nappy change or to stand and stretch. Even an anonymous note to the parents would be a start - you must help these poor children as that is abuse.

That's awful. Report her.
