Returning to work as a Pub Manager

I work full time as a pub manager , 48 hours a week, weekends and evenings and my partner is a chef so works the same sort of hours.
I have just found out I’m 3 months pregnant and wondering how I will manage returning to work when it comes around? I don’t have a massive amount of family around me to help but have no idea what I’m supposed to do.
Other people must manage it somehow but how?

I think it's impossible to manage. Could you submit a flexible working request to reduce hours and work them 9-5 weekdays?

I'm an ofsted registered nanny and have families who are all shift workers. I work evenings/weekends/overnights.

we do exist! one of my mums is a pub manager

Unfortunately not, my job involves running a pub day to day aswell as the back office. This isn’t possible 9-5 annoyingly.

Generally, if you look at parents who work long unusual/antisocial hours, it breaks down into one of the following categories:

  1. They're a dad, and have a wife/partner who does most of the childcare
  2. They earn a high enough salary to pay for a nanny who looks after the child in their own home during the antisocial hours
  3. They have local retired parents/parents in law who are willing to do most of the childcare

More common is one parent who works a shift pattern, like nursing or emergency services, while the other is a more typical 9-5, meaning there may be some long days or evenings required here and there. You sometimes find childminders and nurseries especially based near hospitals that can offer that sort of service. But if you're going to be looking at using paid childcare for a full time job solely on evenings and weekends - definitely a nanny required, I've never seen a nursery or childminder offer that.
