Should I register as a childminder?

I have worked in childcare all my life, 24 years experience.
I was a childminder for 6 years (had my DD in 2014 and went back to work when she was 3 weeks old.) I split up with husband in 2017 and then got offered a job at the local preschool so gave up childminding.
I loved childminding and it fitted it well with my family life.
I have recently left preschool and joined a small private nursery which I thought would be amazing but it's turning out not to be.

I dont know what to do going forwards. I am a single parent using childcare and work 42 hours a week. I feel sad I dont get much time with my DD.

In the back of my mind I have been thinking maybe go back to childminding. I just dont know what to do!

I want to be able to provide the quality teaching and learning experiences.

Go for it! I know it's area dependent, but round here childminders are like gold dust.

There's a lot of demand for childcare and you've had experience of it so wouldn't be going in blind. Do you have the space for it at home, would it take over your home? One thing I'd flag is your DD is 9yo-ish now - toddler and baby years are a thing of the past. Do you want to fill your home with baby gates and highchairs and little kid toys again. And as your DD gets older, would she be okay with having a bunch of other children around before and after school and in the holidays? When she gets home from school and wants to talk to you about her day and then decompress in front of the TV, but you've got 3 under 5yo to look after until they're collected. And what sort of activities would you be doing in the holidays with both her and the minded children? Just something you have to factor in if you have your own child who's significantly older than the mindees.
