Nanny Christmas bonus

It’s that time of year again … please may I pick your brains on a reasonable Christmas bonus for an amazing nanny? Our previous nanny was with us four years, so by the time she left, we were giving her a month’s net pay and some handmade gifts from the kids. Our new nanny has been with us 9 months, so I’m thinking of doing a week’s net pay, a hamper of nice food and some handmade gifts from the kids. Does this seem reasonable?

Give her two weeks money and no hamper. She probably won’t want all the food. I’ve been given speciality teas, cakes and biscuits so far this Christmas and they have all been passed on. DH who doesn’t drink has been given a bottle of vodka.

It really depends on how well off you are. A month's salary sounds a lot to me but probably not to other folk. What you suggested sounds generous.

Lovely idea. I would add a personal touch for the hamper though and include her favorite foods and treats as so it is personalised rather than a generic hamper.

I agree with the poster above. Two weeks pay and no hamper. A handmade decoration from the children is sweet though.

I always had a weeks wages in cash

And was very appreciative of that

I'm shocked you gave a month

A hamper does sound lovely as long as food you know she will like

Does your nanny have children of her own? If she does, perhaps a cash bonus and something for them as a family?

Starseeking · 17/12/2024 22:26

I usually give our Nanny £250 in her Christmas card plus a hamper of things I know she likes and that she will use; shower gel, moisturiser, nice wine, cheese, scarf, gloves etc

I also usually get her a door wreath from the florist when I get mine, so that's another £50.

Our cleaner has been with us for just over a year. We usually give her double pay of the last bill before xmas and gift her a physical present of something food/scent related. X

I would love a cash bonus- in one job I did get two week’s pay in cash and a spa voucher, both amazing and generous gifts.

My last job I got a monthly subscription to charcuterie- I know I sound ungrateful but I tended to resent those bloody great boxes filled with salami showing up in the end 🤣

This job I already know I’m getting wine and a voucher and I’ll be very pleased with that.

My last family gave me my wages + 350 bonus. I was over the moon!!!!

Anything is a token of good will and joy 😊
