Oh dear

southernbelle77 · 29/04/2008 16:05

As usual, the actions of one will no doubt have a detremental affect on the rest of us.

What an awful woman she sounds.

Booh · 29/04/2008 16:23

How on earth could she be caring for 15children under the age of 9........that is madness

newsreader · 29/04/2008 17:03

She had assistants working for her and her husband was also registered.

She was a member of the NCMA, Got a good with an outstanding element as recent as last August was chair of the local associaiton, chair of the north west region and a school govenor. Beggers belief really.

Well, I think it's terrible assistants AND her husband let her do this. It's despicable.

newsreader · 29/04/2008 19:11

Her husband was never there he just farmed out the kids to the assistants as he had a 'proper job' he was registered in name only for the benefit of ofsted, and she bullied the assistants into being quiet. The woman is a nightmare.

Do you know her?

KaySamuels · 29/04/2008 19:22

Oh great another appaling childminder giving us all a bad name. As aleady pointed out the fact that she was so upstanding on paper just makes it even harder for parents doesn't it!

KaySamuels · 29/04/2008 19:23

Good on the work experience person for shopping her!

newsreader · 29/04/2008 19:38

She was very big in childminding round here and everyone knew her. She was very, how should I say it, in your face, telling people how to do things and saying how good she was. She got a lot of peoples backs up and people were genuinelly, well not so much afraid of her but bullied by her into beleiving she was the be all and end all of childminding.

What a nightmare, glad to know she was caught! I agree Kay!

shoshe · 30/04/2008 06:36

What a awful woman!

Does show again, how wrong Ofstead can be tho with their reports.

Nowadays all Inspections are by appointment (OK Ofsted say they are coming this week not exact day, but still notice is given), even Network Supervisor.

The old Under 8's officer would have known the Husband wasn't there, as they used to just drop in at anytime, at least once a quarter.

It was amuch better system, you had the same Under 8's Officer each tiime, she knew you, and really knew what your practice was like.

newsreader · 30/04/2008 07:43

Shows that if you are confident and can talk the talk you can get a decent report. She did tell people that she was disappointed not to get overall outstanding and actaully challenged the inspector over it. The sad thing round here is that she has her supporters even after all this has come out. Quite a few fellow minders feel sorry for her. Well not me!

she doesnt 'look' like a very nice person neevr mind a good person to care for children!, shes stern and like you say looks in you face and bolshy!

i find it so sad that these people are making it harder and harder for us decent childminders

hamsterlover · 30/04/2008 14:59

I was going to place an autistic child for day care with this woman (am a social worker). Link fell through as mum decided not to go ahead with it because of transport.
Have to say that when I visited that I was quite impressed with her and what the placement had to offer but it just goes to show...
She was very affectionate towards the baby's that were there when I visited.

newsreader · 30/04/2008 16:16

What you saw was all show. She knew what she was doing and has been getting away with this sort of behaviour for too long. Hamsterlover be thankful your day care case fell through. If she was able to do this to small children some capable of telling. What would she had done to a child with special needs? And before you all ask why didnt the children tell on her. They were frightened of her!

hamsterlover · 30/04/2008 16:42

I am very relieved actually that the child never got placed! think it tells you something that not a single one of her assistants said anything - if they were too scared too then its understandable that the kids were.
Thank god that the work experience girl had a bit of sense - I suppose that in a way she had nothing to lose (workwise) like the assistants did. Although I hope that if I was ever in a situation like that that I would have the decency to whistleblow and sod teh money!

JustRose · 30/04/2008 19:55

i must say ive been to a group near me (for mums but cm's use as well) and there are two cm's that go and im astounded at how they speak/treat the children..with absolute contemp and bitterness, no negotiating..yyou know when your stressed and your own are playing up and you might snap..well this is constant from them..for the tiniest little things...so it shows they dont ALL do it behind closed doors..and FWIW i 'pulled' them both up at group and said along lines of "FGS!, theyre children, they dont understand and shouting at them obv isnt working"..needless to say i get a few black looks now!
