Funded childcare over 4

I've just been looking at the 30 hours funded childcare options and I noticed it says that is for 3-4 year olds.

DC was born in September so will not start school until September 2026.

What happens after his 4th birthday next September? Does the funded childcare get cut off or is there a provision for children whose schooling is delayed because of birthday months?

He will still be four on his fourth birthday so he will be funded until he starts school. I'm pretty sure the funding lasts until they start school even if that is when they're over 5

My twins were 4 in the Dec and so were in nursery until the July, and we got 30 hours. Its up to and including start of Reception basically, unless you're deferring a year.

Well he'll be four, so he'll be entitled to the funding for three and four year olds.

Yes, it is up to normal Reception start.

So a child who turns 4 in September, gets it until they are almost 5.

Phew thank you everyone! I was reading it as the cut off in age being 4, sent myself in a slight panic for no reason 😂
