Nursery don't want your poorly child there infecting all the other kids and staff OP. He's ill, keep him off, nursery kids get ill all the time so they won't be surprised. Just contact them this morning and let them know. I hope he feels better soon!

It's paid optional childcare, of course you keep him off, he's not going to be missing any curriculum! Hope he gets better soon.

Why did you feel you need to send him in... are you under pressure to work?

DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace · 04/10/2024 07:38

When I read the first half of your post I assumed you were going to be asking if it was ok to send him in. Of course it's ok to keep him off. You won't get in trouble with the nursery.

Hi guys thankyou for your reply's I am not sending him in today and I didn't want to in the first place I just thought because nursery was already paid for and because I give them such short notice that he wouldn't be coming in and with it being a private nursery I just thought some how I'd be in trouble for keeping him off I knew it was a stupid question lol but I'm an over thinker

I hope he gets better soon too thankyou for your messages xxxx

Unless you are planning to ask for the money back for today, you are definitely overthinking it.

Hope your little one feels better.

And no I'm not working at the moment his nursery is funded that's another reason why I thought I'd be in trouble I thought with it being funded that it would be mandatory that he goes too xxxx

Ah no don't worry about that! Young kids get ill all the time, nursery staff will know that more than anyone!

No children can be off sick for funding each LA has a non attendance policy mine is over two weeks the setting needs to notify the borough.

Hope your little boy is feeling better soon.
Funding - the setting will need to keep a record of all absences and the reason .
Each Local Authority has different rules. Our LA says funding will be stopped if a child/baby is absent for more than four weeks of funded sessions . So check with your childcare provider. Don’t forget term time holidays will also count as absence .
You provider will not make up
the funded hours if you are absent . If the provider has to close in term time they will allocate the funded hours to a holiday /non funded week.
