Hi there everyone! I’m looking for some advice on how to connect with families who are looking for a babysitter/childminder. I’m based in Leeds in the headingley area. I had worked as a childminder for a family with two young boys for three years. I’ve done lots of voluntary work with children- working both in a nursery and teaching young girls to play netball in a little league for several years. Would love to hear from someone on how I might be able to connect with parents looking for a childminder for evenings.
All the best and thanks in advance!

Hi I don't mean to be picky, but do you mean as a registered childminder, or do you mean as a babysitter or nanny?

The reason being these are all different things and so parents will have different expectations.

What have you tried so far in terms of advertising?

Fussyknickers · 17/09/2024 14:32

Are you a registered childminder, nanny or babysitter as they’re all different things?

KnickerlessParsons · 17/09/2024 14:42

CMs advertise on our local Facebook pages when they have vacancies.

If you're not a registered childminder you can't work as one....if so I'd start getting registered.
With more parents able to get funding and financial help this seems to be the best way forward.
Nanny's don't need to be registered but work from the child's home.
Babysitters also work on the child's home but for a couple of hours at a time generally for several customers ad-hoc.

Agree are you a cm or a nanny

Totally different tbh

Cm
Has children at her home
Usually several famillies/children
Self employed
Needs to be registered

Nanny
Works in children's house
No more then 2 famillies on same day
Employed usually
Doesn't have to be registered - many are

Thanks for pointing out that difference for me- I meant as a nanny/babysitter rather than childminder based on the distinction one of you posted as a reply :)
I was wondering where I should try putting a post on Facebook to advertise that?

Local Facebook group

Childcare.co.uk

But do call yourself the right thing

If looking for evening work as post suggests it's babysitting

Def not child minding

Hi there
I have worked with children from newborns to 16years old for nearly 20 years. I have a passion for making child hood fun and engaging and education comes with doing this. I have also worked with SEN children. I am looking to help any families out with childcare in school holidays from February half term, Easter, october half term and Christmas.
